Throughout the week aboard the Carib Dancer guests will depart Nassau to explore the dramatic walls, lush coral reefs and exciting animal encounters of the Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park. This protected area is one of the world's most successful marine parks with an area of 176 square miles consisting of an array of more than 350 small islands and cays. The crystal-clear tropical Atlantic pours over the deep cuts between the cays and constantly shifting sand bars. Waters are thick with coral reefs that are alive with every imaginable ocean critter from the living jewels – angelfish and butterfly fish – to the charismatic food-chain toppers like grouper and barracuda – right down to the tiniest living invertebrates. Night diving allows guests to experience an entirely different group of critters and bevy of behaviors not visible during the day.

The Bahamas and her Out Islands offer a distinct blend of international glamour and tropical ease. The islands and cays sprawl across nearly 100,000 square miles of ocean, beginning at the northern point east of Palm Beach, Florida and spanning practically 750 miles to the southeast where there come inside 50 miles of Cuba and Haiti.

Getting There:

The Commonwealth of The Bahamas consists of 700 islands and nearly 2,500 cays. About 30 of these islands are inhabited. The capital city of Nassau is located on New Providence Island. Close by is Paradise Island which is accessed by bridges from Nassau. The closest island to the U.S. is Bimini, about 55 miles off the coast of Florida.

Many major airlines fly into Nassau: American Airlines, Air Tran, Bahamas Air, British Airways, Delta, Jet Blue, Spirit, United, US Airways. There are many direct flights from the US and several connecting flights through the US gateway cities of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Atlanta.

The Carib Dancer departs from Elizabeth on Bay Marina in downtown Nassau, a short ride from Nassau International Airport (NAS). Your return is greatly simplified with US Customs and Immigration Pre-Clearance services at the Nassau International Airport. All flights originating out of Nassau and arriving in the USA arrive as a domestic flight. This in turn allows travelers to have normal "domestic" connection times instead of extended "international" connection times.

Arrival/Boarding/Departure:

Guests arriving into Nassau (NAS) International Airport on Saturday will first clear customs then proceed to the taxi stand located just outside the terminal building. A fixed fare taxi can be secured to take you to “Elizabeth on Bay Marketplace and Marina” in downtown. Guests may board the Carib Dancer after 4 pm on Saturday. At 6 pm the yacht departs for its night anchorage to prepare for diving Sunday morning. After a full week of diving, the Carib Dancer returns back to the Elizabeth on Bay dock in Nassau Friday afternoon after lunch. Check-out is Saturday morning at 8 am. The crew will assist organizing transportation back to the Nassau International Airport Saturday morning or a local hotel if you are extending your stay.
Diving Environment:

•Sharks, Eagle Rays, Stingrays, Groupers, Walls and Reefs with abundant marine life and multiple macro critters.

•All dives from mothership.

•Water temperature: 78-84F, 25-28C (summer months) 75–80F, 24-27C (winter months, with possible 72F, 22C drop in January)

•3-5 mm wetsuit recommended

Komodo Dive Trip March 28th 2015

Komodo Dancer

Komodo National Park Indonesia was established in 1980 and was declared a World Heritage Site and a Man and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1986. The park was initially established to conserve the unique Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis). Since then conservation goals have expanded to protecting its entire biodiversity, both marine and terrestrial. The Komodo National Park encompasses 1,817 square kilometers of spectacular land and marine wilderness, including the islands of Komodo, Rinca, Padar, and Gili Montagne and their surrounding waters. The signature land attraction on your Komodo Dancer LiveAboard cruise will be an encounter with the world’s largest lizard - the flesh eating Komodo Dragon.

Komodo Dancer offers 7 Night and 10 Night cruises, featuring an enhanced itinerary that allows guests more time diving, more time in the signature area of the Komodo National Park.

Many of our guests are avid photographers who like nothing more than hunting out weird and wonderful critters on the reef and sand. As part of the expanded Komodo itinerary we have added two locations to the west of the Komodo National Park – Sangeang Indonesia, an island volcano to the north of East Sumbawa and Bima Bay Indonesia, an inlet that meanders down to Bima town on Sumbawa. There are two specific sites in both of these areas that are producing a dazzling array of rare creepy crawlies on a regular basis – “Estuary” on Sangeang and “Fuzzy Bottom” at the entrance to Bima Bay.

Getting There, Passports & Visa Documentation:
The Komodo National Park Indonesia is part of the Republic of Indonesia and is located 8 to 9 degrees south of the equator between Java Indonesia on the West and Lombok Indonesia and the rest of the Lesser Sunda Islands Indonesia (Sumbawa, Flores, Sumba and Timor) on the East.
Airlines fly into Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpassar Indonesia: Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Air, Eva Airways, and Qatar Airways. An overnight in a Bali hotel is required before boarding a domestic flight to Labuan Bajo where you will meet the Komodo Dancer.

Visitors must have a current passport, adequate funds to support themselves, and a return airline ticket. US citizens require a passport that must be valid for 6 months from date of entry. It is the travelers’ responsibility to ensure they have the proper visa to travel into each country on his or her itinerary as well as for re-entry and return to their country. Since regulations vary by country, contact your consulate or embassy of your country for the requirement.

Arrival/Boarding/Departure:
Reaching the Komodo Dancer will involve a round trip domestic flight from Bali to Komodo Airport near the city of Labuan Bajo (LBJ) on Flores Island in the East Nusa Tenggara province in Indonesia. The Komodo Dancer is scheduled to depart at 1:00 pm. Guests should arrange to take one of the two available morning flights.

Once you have claimed your luggage in Labuan Bajo Airport, please look for an agent holding a Komodo Dancer sign or a sign with your name on it. A transfer company has been hired to meet and greet our Komodo Dancer guests who have arranged this transfer in advance.

The Komodo Dancer aims to return to port on the eve¬ning prior to disembarkation. Final disembarkation will oc¬cur between 8:00 am –1:00 pm at the end of the charter. Guests will be transported to the Labuan Bajo airport for a domestic flight back to Bali.

Price:
Charter $2700 to $2950 per person Double Occ. ($1350 Deposit upon booking non refundable)

Bags

Traveling with spearguns just became a lot easier. The same former Oakley design team that developed our other dive luggage created this marvel and it shows. An internal slot allows for 1” PVC tube to fit securely to hold your shafts and act as an extra level of defense against the airport monkeys. Expandable end pocket allows for an additional 12” of length, and the waterproof interior prevents molding. Double gun sleeves each with tie down straps keep guns snug and our oversized carrying strap distributes weight evenly allowing easy movement in small spaces, critical at airports. Bag measures 60x12x9". Or 72x12x9" with the optional extension. $128

This backpack’s killer looks and smart functionality are a result of its creation by former Oakley designers. Butterfly pockets hold mask, gloves and other gear while acting as a cinch strap for binding spear gun and fins secure to the body, keeping the perfect balanced center of gravity. Constructed of rugged Cordura with a tarpaulin grommeted bottom, it’s bombproof, displaces water and is fully breathable. There’s an inner sleeve for hydration pouch, IPod pocket and polymer carrying handle. Foam molded back piece and ergonomically enhanced shoulder straps provide unbelievable comfort and weight displacement. It’s a diving partner you can’t do
without. $88

The best looking bag at the airport. But don’t let its looks fool you; this bag is all about function. Tarpaulin zipper stash compartment on the bottom protects long or short blade fins, floats and anything else you can fit in there, grommets allow for breathability. The top compartment is large enough for all your dive gear and then some. Side pockets are deep and angled for maximum capacity. Over-sized side web straps with buckles allow you to secure fins or spearguns externally. Constructed of heavy cordura with bottom glide rails, and roller wheels fully loaded the bag tows like its empty. Use it on one trip and you will never want to go home. Bag measures 43x16x14. $160
